who desires it."
HISTORY
Race Communications, Inc., headquartered in South San Francisco is a company created by a joint venture between Race Telecommunications, Inc. and High Desert Wireless.
Race Telecommunications, Inc., founded in 1994, is a company offering a wide range of communication products and services to residential and commercial customers throughout California. Race operates a full-service voice, video, and Internet network in both Northern and Southern California including a complete Fiber to the Premise system in a Los Angeles master-planned community called Playa Vista. The leadership team of Race has over 50 years experience in systems integration and has become known as the go-to-company for solving complex network and systems integration problems. Utilizing the Race CLEC enterprise, which is certified and licensed with a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity by the California Public Utilities Commission, Race provides services to clients such as the Los Angeles Clippers, Dreamworks Studios, Playa Vista Capital and Tishman Speyer.
High Desert Wireless, founded in 2001, provides Internet and technology solutions for residential and commercial customers in the Kern County Area. High Desert provides services to customers such as Anzari X-Prize Foundation, Northrop Grumman, City of Tehachapi, City of Arvin, Tehachapi, and Arvin Police Departments, and many others who have unlimited potential but limited resources. In 2005, Race began to provide High Desert with voice service for its existing customers. After building a successful relationship with Race voice services, Race and High Desert looked for other opportunities to expand Race video and Internet services into Kern County. It was recognized that a lack of high speed broadband would inhibit the area for new technology applications. Race and High Desert decided to explore a solution similar to that of Playa Vista. A Fiber to the Premise solution could replace the antiquated infrastructure of existing carriers and allow for all future technology applications. After initial due diligence, the demand and business model were clearly supported and justified; however, the capital to build was unavailable. Recently, an opportunity presented itself that would better the lives of all who are involved.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) will inject a new breath of life into this initiative that would otherwise be impossible.
